Yes, I say 'Holy Rickman' now. You should too. Anyway, in case you are new to this blog or simply haven't been paying attention, Alan Rickman is currently working on a play called 'Seminar,' which will be performed on Broadway. Snape Picture of the Week #34
When I saw this a couple days ago, I automatically decided that I would post it this week. This is just too freaking awesome and hilarious. I love Snape as a hipster... He wore black before it was cool. But long hair was too mainstream.
And his glasses... HIS GLASSES.
Snape Poem #6
Alone by Edgar Allan Poe
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.
I thought this poem was fitting because Snape is a very lonely person. As a small child, he was abused by his father and was completely alone until he met Lily. And even then, he was alone in the sense that he loved her and she didn't seem to love him back (although I believe she did). His passion for Potions and the Dark Arts set him apart from the others, and the latter eventually caused his seperation from Lily. In his teacher years, he spends most of his time in solitude--and as much as it seems that he prefers it that way, I think that, deep down, he'd like a friend.
The 'lightning in the sky' could be interpreted as Harry Potter, who he protects despite his hate for the boy, and the demon in his view would be the darkness inside him that he struggled to escape--but in its entirety, it's impossible to escape because of the Dark Mark branded onto his arm,

Fanfiction Friday #34
So, I found this Snape/Sinistra (and also Snape/Lily, sort of) fic that takes place around Snape's "death," called I Promise. In case you didn't know, I put quotes around that because he doesn't die in this.
To be honest, I really hate the author's interpretation of the Lily/Snape relationship, but I'm late in posting this as it is, so I wanted to get it over with.
It's two chapters that are of medium length, and even though I didn't like the Lily/Snape part, I still like the fic. Oh--and it's written in Snape's POV and in present tense.

Snape Quote of the Week #33
On Professor Sinistra's other side was the sallow-faced, hook-nosed, greasy-haired Potions Master, Snape--Harry's least favorite person at Hogwarts. Harry's loathing of Snape was only matched by Snape's hatred of him, a hatred which had, if possible, intensified last year, when Harry and helped Sirius escape right under Snape's overlarge nose--Snape and Sirius had been enemies since their own school days.

It's been a while since we had a short one... I doubt many people even remember this quote unless they've reread the books just as much as I have.
Every time I read this part, I get really mad at Harry. And if I'm alone while I read it, I actually talk to the page, and say "Shut up, Potter. He's my favorite person in Hogwarts!"
And when it first introduces Snape to the scene, as always, I do a little fangirl squee on the inside and sometimes kiss the page. If I'm alone. But, just OMR, Snape has some pretty dramatic intros. *Swoon*

Snape Video of the Week #33
It's Real For Us - The Prince's Tale
Lauren Fairweather (actually Maggiacomo now, because she got married to Matt of The Whomping Willows) released the music video for one of the other songs from her Prince's Tale album, so I thought I'd show you guys. There isn't really any Snape/Lily in the video, but the songs represents all of us Potterheads just as much as it did Snape and Lily, so I still like it.
