Weekly Snape-ly Event #9

If you live in Britain, you'll have gotten it about a week earlier, but on April 15th, Deathly Hallows Part 1 came out on DVD and Blu Ray!

But I got it on DVD(and I don't even know who has Blu Ray), so I couldn't get any of the special features.

But that was my first time watching it, so I thought I'd give my own review on it. If you haven't seen it yet, **SPOILERS**

I nearly lost it when Snape was first striding through the hedges and into the Malfoy Manor- he just looked so damn sexy. But anyway, I loved Alan Rickman so much in that scene. He's so perfect at keeping his face impassive during all that's happening, and yet we can see the torturedness in his eyes when he looks at Charity Burbage.

As for when Harry was finally left alone at Privet Drive, I got so mad that they cut out Dudley's redemption scene. I mean, they had it filmed and cut and everything, so why couldn't they use it?! They suck for not including it.

The Seven Harrys scene was perfect. Siriusly perfect. They got almost every line perfect, and it was hilarious! Same with the Battle Over Little Whinging- Every time I read the book, I never really feel sad when Hedwig died. Mostly because she's just a bird, and the only person I shed more than a couple tears for was Snape. But they actually made Hedwig's death sad... :'(

They didn't mess up too many details in Bill and Fleur's Wedding, so I didn't get too mad. Except that Kingsley's Patronus didn't even look like a Patronus.

Now, when they start hunting for Horcruxes, I got nervous because I knew there were going to be plot holes from the missing scenes in Half-Blood Prince. I noticed that they mainly tried to avoid those, but any true HP would have noticed their crude cover-up. When they were trying to get the locket from Umbridge, I liked how well they kept to the book. Then again, there's that thing that's annoyed me since the Chamber of Secrets; When you take Polyjuice Potion, you don't keep your own voice.

And although it wasn't in the book, I liked the scene where the Snatchers walk by them and Scabior smells Hermione's perfume. But I'm still dumbfounded as to why she'd be wearing perfume at all.

Of course, Ron leaving was heavy. Not enough to make me cry, but my heart was thudding. They did a good job. Harry and Hermione in Godric's Hollow was somewhat ironic, because Hermione tells him they should've used Polyjuice Potion, but in the book, they did use it. I was sort of disappointed at the lack of a statue of James, Lily, and Harry. Bathilda Bagshot looked exactly like I imagined her. And the fight between Harry and Nagini was especially awesome, and also sort of funny when they brought it into the bathroom.

When the silver doe showed up, I actually started crying. It seems wierd that I would cry for a Patronus and not for Hedwig or Mad-Eye, but that's just how much I love Snape. Because having read the whole thing multiple times, I know what Snape must have been feeling when he cast it. Plus it just makes me cry every time it's mentioned that his Patronus is a doe.

And here we are... Ron killing the Horcrux. Well, I know there's been a lot of controversy about the Horcrux Harry and Hermione appearing to make-out naked. I'm not going to lie, I thought it was a good touch to make Ron furious and was kind of hot.

Ron's whole speech about the tiny ball of light floating through his chest was so awesome, but not awesome enough to make me fall in love with him, like it did a lot of other people. Because no matter what, my heart belongs to Severus.

Then Xenophilius Lovegood's house... I want to live there. But anyway, I loved how they animated the Tale of the Three Brothers. I always imagined Xenophilius's voice in that scene to be a little wispier and nervous, though.

Even though it totally ruined the whole 'Taboo' thing, I didn't mind so much that they made a clear shortcut from Xeno's house to being caught by Snatchers. Did you see Scabior in that scene? He was effing SEXY. He could never compare to Severus, but he was pretty sexy. And he was freaking about to make out with Hermione. The lucky bitch.

The second Malfoy Manor scene was the best, by far. I was cringing when Hermione was screaming like that while being tortured by Bellatrix. Then I jumped in excitemnt when Dobby showed up. But I was so disappointed that they didn't include Wormtail's death. Then when Bellatrix was screaming at Dobby and he said, "Dobby never meant to kill, only maim or seriously injure!", I suddenly loved him so much. Just like with Hedwig, I was never sad at Dobby's death, but the movie made me cry a little.

I guess that's it for the review, except that I just want to mention how I always wait for Alan's Rickman's name to show up in the credits before I turn off the movie. :D
